Patience and Commitment

It is intimidating to begin with the right skin routine, product line, facials. Do you start at Target? A department store? Ulta? Rodan & Fields or Arbonne because your friend is selling it? Do you get a facial from a professional esthetician or a dermatologist, and if so, how do you choose?

I had to start somewhere, too, so I know the feeling. An esthetician is like a personal trainer for your skin. Think of your facial treatments like a workout. I have specialized training, tools and techniques that you don't have at home. I recommend your home self-care, which is going to determine 80 percent of your results. I am your coach and motivator, and I am here to help you figure out what works for you and your unique needs. I am still learning all the time and have gone to three trainings this year to improve my skills and knowledge.

One of my training sessions was two days of learning the acne process. If you have suffered from acne over the years, you know what a challenge and struggle it is to control. Acne is very complicated, and there is definitely not a one-size-fits-all treatment. Is it hormonal? Is it gut-related? Food-related? Is it the products you are using? Is it hereditary? There are so many factors to consider. If it is product-related, which ingredients are actually comedogenic (pore glogging)? I am always learning about skincare ingredients and knowing what products are safe to use if you are acne prone. Most people don't know what to look for when searching for what is appropriate for their skin's needs. That is where I come in. If you are acne prone, then you likely will be managing it for the rest of your life. You can keep acne under control, but it won't be cured. Everything from food and gut health, daily habits like exercise, washing your face twice a day and hair care have to be considered. The right skin-care program does not have to be drying and uncomfortable for you to see great results. I love Roccoco Botanicals skin care for my acne clients. The product ingredients communicate with your skin, allowing me to recommend the proper treatment depending on whether it's hormonal acne or stubborn blocked pores and inflammation. One of the many challenges with acne is that one serum or one cleanser won't provide full skin clearance. If you are using one acne serum but everything else you are putting on your skin — including make-up — is pore-clogging, you will continue to struggle. An appropriate regimen is required.

I work most with aging skin and age management. Often when I am doing a consultation with a new client of a certain age, they will make a statement like, “Oh well, that's how my skin is now because I spent so much time in the sun and there is nothing that can be done.” I am here to tell you that yes there is! With the professional products and devices that I use in my facials and retail, I have seen remarkable results in my clients' skin. The appearance of aging has reversed. Wrinkles are smoothed, lax skin is more firm and brown spots are lightened or completely gone.

Osmosis Pür Medical Skincare has been amazing for aging skin. Potent serums formulated to truly work with your skin are carried to the dermal layer, where skin is nourished and supplied the tools it needs for proper repair. A patented liposomal delivery system allows the products to penetrate the lipid barrier and get to the deeper layers to take action. So many skin-care products barely penetrate the skin's surface and end up creating more irritation and inflammation.

The results you receive from treatments and products are a commitment. I am committed to my training so I can provide you with the best care. I want you to see results in the appearance of your skin. I want you to be confident and feel beautiful. That is why I do what I do. I make recommendations for you to take products home to help you solve a problem. I have the utmost confidence in the skin-care lines that I use, and when used properly, they will make a difference in the health of your skin. You have to make a commitment too. You have to be diligent with your self-care. If you take a product home and use it once in a while, then you won't be happy. If you start using new professional products and expect to see immediate results, you won't be happy. Change takes time. In most cases, you need to give it at least three months. Even then, you may not notice anything dramatic because you see yourself everyday. I try to take pictures of all of my clients so that you can see the transformation clearly.

There needs to be education, investment and commitment on both our parts. These three words are the starting point for the journey of achieving the healthy, beautiful skin you want and deserve.
